ANAMBRA STATE UNIVERSITY REPRESENTS AFRICA IN UK GLOBAL CONTEST

The Anambra State University, Uli recently represented Nigeria and the African Continent in an international motor designing competition taking place in United Kingdom.The competition, billed for Silver stone Circuit, North Hamphire, London, attracted about one hundred and ten (110) universities selected from about five hundred (500) other top university across the glove.
This fact was disclosed to newsmen recently by the Dean of ANSU's Engineering Faculty, Engr. Dr. Nwabueze Atamuo who said the competition was a programme of the International Engineering Society.  “aimed at encouraging young engineering students to make things better”.  The competition according to him is for the institution to participate in the design of a single-seater sports car.  Egypt has been the only country to have represented Africa in the competition before now. Anambra State University remains the first in Black African to be so invited to the competition.
Dr. Atamuo expressed happiness that Anambra State University was the first in Nigeria to be invited to such a high-proile competition such that, he was optimistic that the institution will come tops.  He said the competition will open a floodgate of other opportunities for the school in particular and other Nigerian Universities in general and appealed for sponsorship from Government, institutes, commissions and the organized private sector.
In a pre-competition presentation before the senate members at the institution's Senate Chambers, the Engineering students involved in the competition took their observers through the various stages of the project.  The students, under the aegies of NUTA-BOLTS (Never Unscrew Technology Absenting the Boys Landmark Technology Spirit) explained the various stages to include Drafting, Design, Power Train, Aerodymamics, Brake System and Ergromonics which takes care of rigidy, air resistance and stability, electrical fittings as well as the safety of the driver among other considerations.
