The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has
approved full Accreditation status for five Engineering programmes
offered by Covenant University
The five Engineering programmes are Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Petroleum
Engineering and Civil Engineering.
The result of the accreditation exercise was contained in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan, dated June 29, 2012 and signed by the Registrar of the Council, Engineer Felix Atume.
The letter read in part, “I write to convey the approval of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, on the accreditation visitation to the Undergraduate Engineering Programmes of the Covenant University from 25th to 29th March, 2012 as follows: Mechanical Engineering (Full Accreditation), Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Full Accreditation), Computer Engineering (Full Accreditation), Petroleum Engineering (Full Accreditation) and Civil Engineering (Full Accreditation).”
The effective date of accreditation according to the Registrar was March 29, 2012, which would be valid for five years.
He strongly advised the University to ensure that the standards were not only maintained but improved upon.
While conveying the cheering news of the accreditation to some of the Principal Officers of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan noted that it was validating news of God’s faithfulness.
“The University received feedback of the exercise today to the effect that all the programmes, received Full Accreditation status. This validating news of God’s faithfulness is contained in the accreditation report from COREN. We give all the glory to God for securing for us this awesome report. Let this report spur us to greater level of accomplishments”, she said.
