The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) will today embark on an indefinite strike, following failure of the government to implement agreements on issues affecting polytechnic education in the country.
The indefinite strike followed end of a seven-day warning strike which ended weekend.
The National President of ASUP, Mr. Chibuzor Asomugha, said that the
indefinite strike had become unavoidable because the meeting the union
had with Secretary to the Federal Government, Senator Pius Anyim,
yielded no positive results.
He said the strike would be called
off only when the government addressed all the demands raised by the
union, urging all polytechnic lecturers across the country to abide by
the directive to embark on indefinite strike.
